The three-day event on Cres hosted over 70 islanders and island stakeholders from all over Europe: the goal of the event is to exchange experiences and good practices
A three-day event started on Cres organized by the Island Movement, OTRA, the City of Cres and other partners. It gathers over 70 islanders and island stakeholders from all over Europe with the aim of exchanging experiences and practices in the field of sustainable development and building island communities.

Introductory speeches were given by Ivan Matić, member of the Board of Directors of the Island Movement, Ugo Toić from OTRA, and Maja Jurišić, president of the Island Movement, who presented the work of the association and the ETO platform project. The ISLET project, financed by the LIFE program, was presented by Francesca Batistelli, the project coordinator, while ESIN will soon present its work and mission. In her speech, Camille Dressler from ESIN added that the islanders’ problems can be solved if we all work together.

Special emphasis is placed on the process of establishment and management of energy communities. This topic will be at the center of the “Future of Energy Communities on Islands” conference tomorrow. This event is an opportunity to strengthen the cooperation network among island stakeholders. It is also a key step in building a sustainable future for European islands.
The event organizers are the City of Cres, OTRA, Pokret Otoka, with the support of the Ministry of Economy and the Green Energy Cooperative.
